The range is broader than most people expect. The Cloisters are a 13th-century open-air arcade accommodating 400 for standing receptions under Gothic arches. College Garden — believed to be the oldest continuously cultivated garden in England — takes 850 standing or 300 seated under a summer marquee, with views of the Victoria Tower. The Cellarium is a medieval undercroft for up to 120, with vaulted ceilings and an atmosphere that's impossible to recreate. And the Diamond Jubilee Galleries, 52 feet above the nave in the Abbey's triforium, host drinks receptions in a setting that John Betjeman called the best view in Europe.

How Events Work at Westminster Abbey

The Abbey operates dry hire only, with accredited suppliers handling catering, production, and décor. Rhubarb Hospitality Collection is the approved caterer. Every hire includes an on-site events manager, security, and cleaning — the infrastructure is professional, even though the setting is ancient. Private out-of-hours Abbey tours can be incorporated into any event, giving guests exclusive access to areas closed to the public.
