About Troxy
Troxy opened in 1933 as an East London cinema and has spent the decades since proving that Art Deco architecture and serious production infrastructure are not mutually exclusive. The Grade II listed building on Commercial Road now operates as London's largest independent event venue — a single, undivided operation built around the Grand Hall and its supporting spaces, with a permanent AV installation that rivals purpose-built arenas.
Scale and Character at Troxy
The numbers are what bring organisers here: 2,100 theatre-style across the ground floor and Circle balcony, 1,500 standing, 780 for seated dinners. But the numbers alone don't explain why Troxy wins events over modern conference centres with equivalent capacity. The 14-metre ceiling, original Art Deco detailing, and pillar-free ground floor create an atmosphere that raw capacity figures can't convey. It is a room with genuine presence — the kind of space where guests look up when they walk in.
Production Built into the Building
Troxy's permanently installed PA, lighting rig, projection, and staging come included with every hire — the same system that has hosted major concert tours and award ceremonies. There is no additional AV hire cost, no external supplier coordination, and no rigging time eating into your setup window. An in-house production team manages the technical delivery, working alongside an events manager allocated to each booking. Eleven dressing rooms double as offices, green rooms, or breakout spaces. The grand foyer handles registration. A 2am licence with no noise curfew means events run to their natural conclusion.
Events That Work at Troxy
Awards ceremonies and gala dinners for 300–780 guests use the ground floor with stage and screens, while the Circle balcony's 800+ fixed seats create natural tiered viewing for conferences and presentations. Standing receptions and parties fill the pillar-free floor. Brand activations and immersive experiences benefit from the blackout capability, flexible staging, and the sheer visual drama of the space. Christmas parties, live concerts, fashion shows, boxing events, and wedding receptions all feature in the venue's track record. Flexible catering arrangements — in-house or approved external suppliers — keep the options open. Limehouse DLR sits two minutes away.
