Theatre Peckham

Theatre Peckham has been a dedicated performance venue on Havil Street for over 35 years, committed to artistic excellence and social change in equal measure. The purpose-built building — not a conversion from another use — was designed around the needs of live performance, and that shows in the quality of its infrastructure. The retractable seating in the main 200-seat auditorium is the detail that transforms it from theatre to event space, but it's the depth of production capability across the whole building that makes it a serious option for private hire.

From Auditorium to Open Hall

The main theatre's retractable stalls are the centrepiece. Two hundred seats fold away to reveal a semi-sprung timber floor measuring over 11 metres by 16 metres — enough space for a standing reception, a seated awards dinner, a product launch with full staging, or a conference with exhibition space. State-of-the-art lighting and sound are permanently installed, which means events benefit from theatrical-grade production without the cost and logistics of bringing equipment in.

A Building Designed for Performance

Beyond the main theatre, the building offers two studios — one a 75-capacity purpose-built dance studio with blackout, the other a 35-capacity space for smaller gatherings — plus a meeting room, dressing rooms with showers, and a bright café and foyer. Every space is wheelchair accessible, connected by lifts, and designed with the practical needs of performers and audiences in mind. That attention to backstage infrastructure translates directly to event hire: dressing rooms for speakers, technical booths for production teams, and flexible configurations that don't require improvisation.
