The View

Not where you expect to find an event space — and that is precisely the point. The View occupies the sixth floor of the Royal College of Surgeons on Lincoln's Inn Fields, a newly refurbished conference and events venue managed by Searcys where panoramic London views, a working outdoor terrace, and the gravitas of a 200-year-old medical institution converge on a single floor.

The View at the Royal College of Surgeons

The 2021 refurbishment transformed the sixth floor into a contemporary events space with sustainability built into the design. The Conference Suite and Park View rooms work together — main event in one, reception and catering in the other, terrace access connecting them to the outdoors. The configuration handles conferences for 300, dinners for 180, and standing receptions with terrace drinks that make summer events here particularly memorable. Built-in AV, natural daylight throughout, and a Searcys catering team who work the building permanently mean the operational details are handled before you arrive.

The Lumley Library and Wedding Ceremonies

Below The View, on the first floor, the Lumley Library offers something entirely different. A Grade I listed 19th-century working library — leather-bound volumes, period features, wrought-iron balustrades — it is licensed for wedding ceremonies and intimate events for up to 100 theatre or 50 dinner. The combination of a library ceremony followed by a sixth-floor reception, connected by the College's grand staircase, creates a narrative arc through the building that purpose-built venues cannot replicate.

Lincoln's Inn Fields and The View's Central London Access

Lincoln's Inn Fields is London's largest public square, and the terrace views across it — plus the wider city skyline — define The View's character. Holborn and Temple stations are within walking distance, placing the venue between the West End and the City with excellent transport connections from both. The Royal College frontage provides a classical arrival — columns, porch, grand entrance — before the sixth-floor reveal delivers the contrast that guests tend to remember long after the event.
