The Sun Clapham

The Sun occupies one of Clapham Old Town's period pub buildings, all wood panelling and neighbourhood character, but the events proposition extends well beyond a typical pub hire. Two dedicated private spaces — each with its own bar and genuine separation from the main pub — give it the infrastructure of a function venue wrapped in the warmth of a local.

Two Private Spaces, Properly Self-Contained

The Upstairs Function Room is the headline: 90 standing with its own fully stocked bar, bartender, private toilets, and independent music system. It operates as essentially a separate venue layered above the pub — guests use their own facilities, control their own music, and are served from their own bar. For private parties and celebrations that want pub atmosphere without sharing it, the self-contained setup is the main draw.

The Garden Room takes a different approach. Forty standing with direct access to the large beer garden, it turns indoor events into indoor-outdoor ones. Summer parties, casual daytime gatherings, and weekend celebrations flow naturally between the covered room and the garden — a layout that captures what pub events do best when the weather cooperates. Available until 11pm.

Clapham Local, Event-Ready

Wood panelling and period features throughout both private spaces give The Sun more character than the average function room, while classic British mains and sharing platters keep the catering simple and group-friendly. Craft beers and artisan spirits stock both private bars. The alcohol licence runs to 1:00am for the upstairs room — later than many Clapham venues — and the kitchen's sharing-platter approach means food arrives without the logistical overhead of plated service at scale.

Located at 47 Old Town, Clapham SW4, near Clapham Common Station on the Northern line. The Old Town setting adds neighbourhood charm that the high street doesn't offer. Whole-venue hire is also available for events that need the full building.
