The Sterling occupies the ground floor and mezzanine of 30 St Mary Axe, with the City's largest outdoor terrace wrapping around the base of the iconic curved glass tower. Recently renovated, the interiors are sleek and contemporary, designed to match the architectural ambition above.

Spaces Across Two Levels at The Sterling

The main bar is open-plan and glass-walled, filled with natural light during the day and atmospheric in the evenings. A mezzanine level provides semi-private space with its own bar available on request, while The Drawing Room offers genuine privacy for meetings and intimate dinners with direct terrace access. The Booths area adds flexible ground floor capacity adjacent to the main bar. Combined, the venue holds 500 standing — substantial for a City bar, and made possible by the expansive footprint of the Gherkin's base.

Events at The Sterling

The building's visual identity does heavy lifting. Corporate events, summer parties, wedding receptions, and product launches all benefit from a backdrop that guests photograph instinctively and that communicates ambition without requiring explanation. The dedicated events team handles everything from roped-off sections for after-work drinks through to full exclusive hire with bespoke food, drink, and AV packages.

Access and Availability at The Sterling

Liverpool Street and Aldgate stations are both five minutes' walk. The venue operates Monday to Friday, with exclusive private hire available any day of the week. Mosaic Pub & Dining runs the operation, providing in-house catering and a late licence until 00:30.
