The Milestone Hotel and Residences

Directly opposite Kensington Palace, The Milestone is a five-star boutique hotel where the scale is deliberately intimate — 43 rooms, 13 suites, and 6 residences, each individually designed, in a Grade II listed building that dates to the late 1680s. Part of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection, it trades on the feeling of a private Kensington residence rather than a conference hotel. For events, that intimacy defines the proposition: the largest space seats 30 for dinner.

The Windsor Suite

Aged pine panelling, a spectacular chandelier, a working fireplace, and a butler's pantry make the Windsor Suite feel more like a private dining room in someone's very well-appointed house than a function space. It seats 30 for dinner or holds 40 for a standing reception, and it's licensed for wedding ceremonies. The combination of period character and genuine warmth — it doesn't feel staged — makes it one of Kensington's more distinctive event rooms at this scale.

The Oratory

The Oratory may be London's smallest wedding venue: a circular former chapel from the 1600s seating just eight beneath an ornate vaulted ceiling and rich wood panelling. It's a room for ceremonies that prioritise intimacy over spectacle, and there isn't really anything else like it in the capital.

Smaller Spaces and the Stables Bar

The Hideaway, connected to the Stables Bar via a conservatory, takes 10 seated or 20 standing for discreet gatherings — drinks receptions, pre-dinner networking, private meetings. The Stables Bar itself occupies the building's original horse stables, all dark wood panelling and cocktail-bar atmosphere. Cheneston's restaurant offers private dining for groups looking for a more conventional seated format.

Five-Star Kensington

In-house catering under Executive Chef Daniel Putz, state-of-the-art AV and wireless broadband throughout, and the full complement of five-star hotel services — spa, gym, chauffeur, concierge. With 62 rooms and suites, overnight accommodation for event guests is built into the venue rather than outsourced. High Street Kensington tube is the closest station. Every space in the hotel is finished with antique furnishings and original artwork — it's a treasure trove rather than a showroom, and that distinction shapes the events it attracts.
