The Foundling Museum

Located in the heart of leafy Bloomsbury and overlooking Brunswick Square, the Foundling Museum can be exclusively yours for a memorable event. The Foundling Museum’s collections blend art and activism. The Museum tells the remarkable story of the Foundling Hospital, established in the eighteenth century by Thomas Coram to care for children whose parents were unable to care for them. The artist William Hogarth and the composer George Frideric Handel played a big part in realising Coram’s vision. Together, they transformed the Hospital into the UK’s first public art gallery, and one of London’s most fashionable venues.

Situated within a Grade II-listed, Georgian style building, the Museum houses a wealth of treasures, including Handel’s will and part of his famous oratorio Messiah. Magnificent paintings from some of the most celebrated eighteenth-century artists are also displayed, including Hogarth’s The March of the Guards to Finchley, alongside works by cutting edge contemporary artists.
