Spaces at The Brewery
3 spaces availableAbout The Brewery
Six event rooms inside a Grade II listed Georgian brewery, five minutes from Liverpool Street in the heart of the City. The Brewery has been running events for over fifty years — long enough to have hosted government conferences, star-studded charity galas, major award ceremonies, fashion shows, and weddings ranging from intimate to grand. The building dates to the 18th-century Whitbread brewing empire, and the original architecture hasn't been softened into corporate neutrality. Barrel-vaulted brick ceilings, an exposed King Post timber roof spanning 60 feet, antique oak floors, and a cobbled courtyard all survive — working features of a venue that treats its heritage as an asset, not a museum piece.
The Brewery's Event Spaces
The Porter Tun anchors the complex — one of London's largest unobstructed event rooms at 778 square metres, with capacity for up to 1,000 standing beneath that remarkable timber roof. The King George III Room offers barrel-vaulted brick grandeur for up to 700 standing, with direct loading bay access that makes it the natural choice for exhibitions and events requiring significant production builds. Queen Charlotte, the Sugar Rooms, Smeaton Vaults, and the James Watt Room scale downward for meetings, breakout sessions, and more intimate gatherings.
The rooms connect. That connectivity is what separates The Brewery from single-room venues — events flow between spaces for different phases, reception drinks in one room while dinner is dressed in another, breakout rooms running alongside a conference plenary. The whole complex caters for 30 to 1,000+ guests, with the flexibility to configure rooms independently or as a joined programme.
Summer, Christmas, and The Brewery's Courtyard
Each summer, the 18th-century cobbled courtyard transforms into The Retreat — two themed marquees with glass-like roofs and railed decking, adding up to 800 capacity for outdoor events surrounded by the historic buildings. December brings immersive themed Christmas party experiences that have become an annual draw, using the courtyard and marquee spaces for fully produced events rather than standard seasonal packages.
How The Brewery Operates
In-house catering runs through The Brewery's own award-winning kitchen team, with seasonal British menus developed specifically for the spaces. The in-house AV team — Encore — manages technical production, lighting, and sound across all rooms, so event planners work with one venue team rather than coordinating multiple suppliers. Fifty-plus years of events heritage means operational systems that handle complexity smoothly, from multi-room conferences to fast turnarounds between daytime and evening formats. Controlled security, air-conditioned spaces, and full production infrastructure throughout.
