About temper City
Most restaurants put the kitchen behind a wall. temper City puts a six-metre fire pit at the centre of the room and builds the dining experience around it. Located in Angel Court near Bank station, this is the largest of the temper restaurant family — a live-fire restaurant where rare-breed British beef is butchered in-house, aged, and cooked over open flame in front of the guests eating it.
Fire, Food and the Open Kitchen
The cooking is the entertainment. Counter seating rings the fire pit, giving guests a front-row view of the grill in action. Chefs work with whole cuts — porterhouse, ribeye, sirloin — alongside smoked brisket, hand-pressed tacos, and house-made parathas. The smoke, the flame, and the visible skill create an atmosphere that no amount of mood lighting or playlist curation can match. For events, this means the venue arrives with its entertainment built in.
The Mezzanine and Private Dining
Above the main floor, the mezzanine overlooks the fire pit from a private perch — up to 50 seated with its own bar, or 70 standing for a reception. It is one of the City's more distinctive private dining spaces: intimate enough for a focused client dinner, theatrical enough that the cooking below provides continuous visual energy. Full exclusive hire takes the restaurant to 300 standing or 240 seated, with the terrace extending the footprint outdoors.
A Hidden City Address
Angel Court, off Throgmorton Street — temper City occupies a tucked-away location that rewards the walk from Bank or Moorgate with a sense of discovery. For client entertaining and corporate events, that hidden-gem quality adds value beyond the food. Guests feel they're being taken somewhere considered, not somewhere obvious. The City postcode handles the professional context; the fire pit handles the impression.
