About Smith & Wollensky
Smith & Wollensky brought a New York steakhouse institution to London's Strand in 2015, and the transplant took. The Grade II listed Adelphi Building gives the restaurant an Art Deco grandeur that the original Manhattan outpost never had — mahogany panelling, 1920s-inspired artwork, and a club-like atmosphere spread across two floors with two full-service bars.
Three Private Dining Rooms at Smith & Wollensky
Each of the three private dining rooms has genuine character rather than generic partitioned space. The Theodore Roosevelt Room is the standout for corporate entertaining — 50 seated with its own dedicated bar and bartender, red leather seating, and a 55-inch screen for presentations. The Churchill Room seats 30 in a more intimate green leather setting. The Liberty Room handles groups of 20, with Art Deco tiling and marble surfaces that suit drinks receptions and smaller working dinners. All three have dedicated fibre optic broadband and state-of-the-art music systems.
Exclusive Hire Across Both Floors
For larger events, Smith & Wollensky opens up properly. The ground floor takes 127 seated or 120 standing with its own bar. The main dining room upstairs handles 200 seated or 240 standing. Combined, the full restaurant accommodates around 350 standing or 300 seated — with the scale and infrastructure for product launches, gala dinners, film premieres, award ceremonies, and wedding receptions. External DJs and live bands are welcome for whole-venue hire, and the space can be dressed to suit corporate branding or celebration themes.
The Steakhouse Proposition
The in-house catering isn't just a requirement — it's the reason many events book here. USDA Prime steaks dry-aged for 28 days in the venue's own ageing room and butchery give genuine field-to-fork credentials. The award-winning wine list and cocktail programme complete a food-and-drink offering that makes the meal the centrepiece rather than an afterthought. For business dinners, client entertaining, and any event where the quality of what's on the table matters as much as the room it's served in, the steakhouse format does the heavy lifting.
Smith & Wollensky for Events
Charing Cross and Embankment stations are both within walking distance, and Q-Park underground parking sits directly below. The venue is wedding licensed. The combination of recognisable brand, serious food credentials, and flexible private hire across multiple distinct spaces makes this a Covent Garden restaurant that functions as a genuine events venue — not a dining room with a function room bolted on.
