About Quaglino's

Few London restaurants can claim the kind of entrance that Quaglino's delivers. The sweeping staircase — descending into a double-height dining room filled with live music and the glow of the island cocktail bar — has been setting the tone for celebrations here since Sir Terence Conran reimagined Giovanni Quaglino's 1929 original in the 1990s. Russell Sage Studio's 2014 redesign refreshed the interiors without losing the glamour, and the result is a St James's institution where the drama of arrival is as much a part of the event as the dinner itself.

A Stage for Live Entertainment

Quaglino's has hosted live music since the 1930s, and the tradition continues seven nights a week — from jazz and soul through to a gospel choir at Sunday lunch. The curtained stage is a genuine performance space, not background music, and for private events it provides entertainment infrastructure that most restaurants can't match. Whether you're booking the house band or bringing your own act, the stage, sound, and lighting are part of the venue.

1930s Glamour in St James's

The 1930s glamour runs deep here — it's not a theme but a continuation of the restaurant's own history. Quaglino's has attracted royalty, celebrities, and Londoners celebrating in style for nearly a century, and that accumulated social history gives the venue a weight that newly opened restaurants struggle to match. Prince Harry was among the first through the doors after the 2014 relaunch, and the space continues to attract a well-dressed, well-connected crowd. The St James's address — between Green Park and Piccadilly, with the West End's theatres, galleries, and hotels within walking distance — anchors events in one of London's most prestigious neighbourhoods.

Private Rooms Above the Theatre

Two mezzanine-level private dining rooms overlook the main restaurant, offering either total seclusion behind blinds or an elevated vantage point above the action. The Prince of Wales Room takes up to 40 guests with AV facilities; the Giovanni Room seats 14–16 around a single mahogany table. Both draw on the same kitchen and service team as the main restaurant, making them some of the most characterful private dining spaces in the area.

Getting to Quaglino's

Green Park station (Jubilee, Victoria, Piccadilly lines) is a five-minute walk. Piccadilly Circus is also nearby, and the venue's Bury Street entrance sits in a quiet pocket of St James's despite the central location.
