Never For Ever

The 6,500-square-foot building at 79 Highgate Road has been part of Kentish Town's fabric for years — first as Pizza East, later as Dirty Burger and Chicken Shop, and now as Never For Ever, a neighbourhood venue from Urban Leisure Group that combines bar, restaurant, music venue, and event space across two generous floors.

The transformation kept what worked — the wood-fired pizza ovens that defined the previous occupant remain, turning out thin-crust pizzas on a house-made spelt and wheat flour blend — and reimagined everything else. The ground floor is a lounge-like space of leather banquettes, houseplants, books, and Crittall windows, where morning coffee drinkers, weekend brunchers, and evening event guests share the same room at different hours. Downstairs, the former Chicken Shop basement has become a versatile bar and music space that regularly hosts live performances and private events.

Two Floors at Never For Ever

Never For Ever's strength as an event venue lies in the natural separation of its floors. The ground floor, with its wood-fired kitchen and relaxed atmosphere, serves seated dining and standing receptions with warmth and character. The basement, with its own bar, PA system, and capacity for 100, handles the louder, later part of an evening. Hire both, and a single event can flow from dinner to dancing without guests ever needing to leave the building or change venue.

Full venue hire accommodates over 300 standing. The Pool Room — a full-size table in what was once Dirty Burger's car park annexe — adds a games-focused corner that guests gravitate toward.

Never For Ever feels like a venue that belongs to its neighbourhood rather than being imposed on it. Eight craft beers rotate on tap, the wine list spans the globe, and the kitchen's emphasis on seasonal British cooking reflects a genuine commitment to quality rather than a marketing position. Kentish Town station is five minutes' walk away, and the Highgate Road location sits close enough to Hampstead Heath that summer events can encourage guests to combine the evening with the area.
