Mulryan Centre for Dance

English National Ballet's headquarters on London City Island doubles as one of east London's most distinctive event venues. The Mulryan Centre for Dance won the 2021 RIBA National Award for Architecture, and the building earns it — purpose-built for world-class dance production, with a Holloway Production Studio whose four-storey fly tower matches London's largest theatres. That cultural association isn't cosmetic. Events here borrow credibility from a working ballet company, housed in a building designed to professional performance standards.

From Production Studio to Event Space at the Mulryan Centre

The Holloway Production Studio handles 500 standing or up to 300 seated, with retractable theatre seating, segmentable layouts, and overhead rigging capability that most event venues can't offer. But the building extends well beyond a single studio. The Dorfman Foyer takes 350 standing with a feature staircase connecting exhibition and reception areas. Four rehearsal studios on the fourth floor — 15 metres square, sprung floors, 5.5-metre ceilings — work as breakout rooms, workshop spaces, or standalone hire. A roof terrace with cityscape views provides an atmospheric drinks reception setting.

What the ENB Association Adds at the Mulryan Centre

The cultural credibility of hosting events in a working ballet headquarters is the kind of thing money can't buy elsewhere. Product launches, brand activations, and fashion shows gain a context that's authentic rather than manufactured — this is where performances are rehearsed and productions built, and that creative energy is embedded in the building. The RIBA award confirms the architectural quality guests experience on arrival.
