About Motel Studios
Three Victorian railway arches on Long Street in Hackney, dating from 1865 and now operating as one of East London's most established creative venue spaces. Motel Studios has hosted product launches, fashion shows, and brand activations for the kind of client list — Dior, LVMH, Nike, BBC, Red Bull, Fenty Beauty — that tells you more about the venue's reputation than any description can. The industrial bones are genuine, the mid-century design details are deliberate, and the combination of the two gives the space a visual identity that branded activations and editorial shoots gravitate toward.
Studio Layout and Flexibility at Motel Studios
Studio 1 and Studio 2 occupy separate arches connected by an internal corridor, which means they can run as one continuous space or as two distinct zones — drinks reception in one, main event in the other, with guests moving between them. Studio 3 functions as a green room or breakout space with a mezzanine level, useful for production logistics or smaller parallel programming. The interconnected layout is what makes Motel work for events that need a sense of journey rather than a single static room. Combined standing capacity across Studios 1 and 2 reaches around 430 guests.
Production Credentials
Exposed brick walls, polished concrete floors, and arched ceilings provide the backdrop — but the infrastructure underneath is properly commercial. 63-amp power supply, superfast wifi, in-house PA, Sonos sound system, and a cinematic projection screen. Full drive-in access through the arch entrances is a genuine differentiator: Motel is one of the only studio spaces in Shoreditch where you can drive a car, a food truck, or a set build directly into the venue. External caterers supply the food and drink, with options ranging from street food through to formal plated dining.
Hackney Location and Motel Studios Access
Arch 406–408 sits in the stretch between Hoxton and Haggerston, seconds from Hoxton Overground with Old Street, Shoreditch High Street, and Liverpool Street all within easy reach. The address is discreet — tucked under the railway arches rather than on a main road — which adds to the sense of arriving somewhere that feels found rather than obvious. Licensed for weddings and civil partnership ceremonies alongside commercial events, with hire available seven days a week.
