Gunnersbury Park is what happens when a banking dynasty builds a country retreat and London eventually grows around it. The Rothschild family's former west London residence — a Regency mansion surrounded by 72 hectares of parkland, ornamental lakes, and formal gardens — underwent a £21 million restoration completed in 2018, and the result is an estate venue with genuine period grandeur that also happens to be in Zone 3.

The mansion's event spaces retain their original Rothschild-era opulence: gilded ceilings, ornate plasterwork, tall windows framing the South Lawns. But the restoration is thorough and modern — this isn't a crumbling stately home pressed into service. It's a venue that was properly rebuilt for contemporary use while preserving everything that makes the rooms impressive.

Three settings, one estate

The venue offers three distinct architectural settings across the estate. The Rothschild Rooms inside the mansion — Drawing Room, Long Gallery, and Dining Room interconnecting — provide full period grandeur for up to 200 guests. The Orangery, an almost entirely glass pavilion at the foot of the lawns, offers something lighter and more contemporary for groups of 80. And the Temple — an 18th-century classical folly by William Chambers — gives summer ceremonies and receptions a parkland setting that feels genuinely rural.

Each has its own character, and they combine well for events that want to move guests between spaces across the day. Ceremony in the Orangery, drinks on the lawn, dinner in the Rothschild Rooms — the estate's scale makes multi-stage events feel natural rather than logistically forced.

West London grandeur, accessible

An approved caterer list includes options from Michelin-inspired to Caribbean and South Asian, giving events culinary range that matches the setting's ambition. The parkland extends to accommodate outdoor festivals for up to 30,000 — but for most hires, it's the mansion's restored interiors and the Orangery's glass-walled elegance that define the experience.
