About Dutch Hall
Dutch Hall sits on Austin Friars — a cobbled lane off Old Broad Street with no through traffic — and the arrival sets the tone immediately. A former Dutch Church dating to 1550, restored after the Blitz by Arthur Bailey in 1954, the building carries five centuries of Anglo-Dutch history beneath stained glass windows that Van Gogh once sketched. Inside, 4,574 square feet of Grade II listed event space divides across two floors, anchored by a triple-height main hall that transforms dramatically as coloured light shifts through the day.
Dutch Hall's Three Event Spaces
The Main Hall dominates — soaring ceilings, black-and-white stone floors, striking chandeliers, and feature stained glass windows that make artificial lighting almost redundant for atmosphere. Below, the Van Gogh Reception Room offers a contemporary, naturally-lit space via a stone staircase, functioning as pre-dinner drinks, registration, or standalone meetings with built-in AV. The Library is the smallest and warmest of the three rooms, suited to intimate breakouts or private conversations during larger events. All three can be hired individually or combined.
Weddings at Dutch Hall
The unusual dual licence — Dutch Hall is both a registered church and a licensed wedding venue — means couples can hold a church ceremony and reception in the same building. Religious ceremonies are arranged directly with the Church, while the events team handles receptions and dinners. From fifty to a hundred and eighty guests, the hall accommodates wedding celebrations that draw on genuine heritage rather than themed decoration.
City of London Location
Liverpool Street, Moorgate, and Bank stations are all within easy walking distance, connecting Underground, Overground, and DLR. The secluded Austin Friars address feels removed from the City's bustle despite being in EC2 — guests step off Old Broad Street into a quiet cobbled lane that immediately resets the pace.
