About Bluebird
Bluebird occupies a Grade II listed 1923 car garage on King's Road — a Chelsea landmark for over two decades that trades on its Art Deco bones and a SW3 address that carries weight with a certain kind of event. Seven distinct spaces across the building range from a 32-seat mezzanine tucked into the eaves to a 500-standing first-floor restaurant with a soaring atrium ceiling and skylights, with a cobblestone courtyard in between. The breadth is the point: intimate private dinners through to full-scale celebrations and corporate entertaining, all under one roof.
Bluebird's Seven Event Spaces
The first-floor restaurant and bar is the showpiece — 200 to 250 seated or 500 standing beneath a high atrium ceiling with skylights flooding the room with natural light. A striking circular bar anchors the back of the space, and the 2016 Sagrada-led refurbishment layered contemporary colour and Celia Birtwell textiles over the original garage architecture. Below, five private dining rooms offer self-contained alternatives: the Gallery Room (80 seated, own bar and private bathrooms), the Beaufort Room (40 seated, own bar), the Bluebird Room (30 seated with its own private entrance off Beaufort Street and a members-club atmosphere), the Mezzanine (32 seated in the eaves with a bird's-eye view of the restaurant), and the Campbell Room on the ground floor — a 120-seated blank canvas with 220 standing. The Gallery and Beaufort combine for 100 seated or up to 200 standing, creating a dance-ready party configuration.
Bluebird's Courtyard
The cobblestone courtyard holds up to 250 for standing receptions, with parasols, heaters, blankets, and an optional marquee extending its usability beyond summer months. For King's Road events that want an outdoor element — summer parties, drinks receptions, wedding cocktail hours — the courtyard adds something that indoor-only Chelsea venues can't offer.
Weddings and Corporate Events at Bluebird
Bluebird is a licensed wedding venue with in-house catering from The Evolv Collection, and the range of space configurations means weddings scale from intimate Bluebird Room ceremonies to full restaurant takeovers. Corporate entertaining benefits from a Chelsea address that carries immediate recognition — this is a venue where guests arrive with expectations already set by the name. Originally Sir Terence Conran's Gastrodome, Bluebird's history includes attracting socialites and royalty, and that reputation still shapes how guests experience an event here. The licence runs until 11pm, midnight for weddings, and multiple private entrances allow different spaces to operate independently.
