About Main Hall at The Pelligon
César Pelli designed two sister venues on opposite sides of the Atlantic — New York’s Winter Garden and this: a 27-metre glass dome on Canary Wharf’s waterfront, where 682 square metres of patterned marble floor sits beneath floor-to-sky glass panels that curve into the dome above. The Pelligon’s Main Hall is the kind of space that makes event planners reconsider what’s possible in East London. One thousand guests for a standing reception, 750 for a drinks event, 500 for a banquet, 600 in theatre configuration — serious scale in a building that delivers genuine architectural distinction alongside the numbers.
The dome defines the space. Natural light floods the marble floor during daytime events, while customisable colour lighting transforms the hall after dark — ledge-mounted lights wash the atrium in colour, and the glass panels themselves can be wrapped with branded vinyl to create fully immersive environments. For corporate events, this means the venue can carry a brand identity from floor to ceiling. For celebrations, it means the space shifts mood entirely between a daylight ceremony and an evening reception.
How The Pelligon’s Main Hall Works for Large Events
The uninterrupted floor space is the practical foundation. At 682 square metres with the dome overhead, the Main Hall handles exhibitions, gala dinners, product launches, and conferences without the columns, low ceilings, or subdivided layouts that compromise many large London venues. The state-of-the-art AV technology and in-house technicians team manage lighting, sound, and staging requirements, so production doesn’t depend on external suppliers wrestling with unfamiliar infrastructure. The hall operates as a blank canvas — adaptable glass panels, customisable lighting, and open floor space mean every event builds the environment from scratch rather than working around permanent fixtures. Brand activations and product launches are particularly well served; the combination of branded glass-wrap, colour-washed dome, and LED capability creates a visual identity that photographs from every angle.Connected Spaces at The Pelligon
The Main Hall connects to a network of supporting spaces that extend what a single room can offer. The Gallery mezzanine — 22 metres wide by 12 metres deep — overlooks the Main Hall from above, with its own lift access, direct kitchen connection, and a dedicated suite of bathrooms. At 250 standing or 120 theatre-style, the Gallery works as a VIP area, drinks reception space, or a self-contained event running simultaneously above the main proceedings. The ceiling height under the mezzanine sits at 3.4 metres, so the ground-floor space beneath doesn’t feel compressed. The Waterside Terrace opens the venue to the outdoors, accommodating up to 120 guests with views across South Dock and the Canary Wharf skyline. For summer receptions, drinks intervals, or ceremony backdrops, the terrace adds a dimension that enclosed venues can’t offer. The Green Room handles small-scale workshops and boardroom meetings, while the Promenade Room serves as an adjacent space for registration, green room, or production support. Two smaller anterooms — one with a toilet and sink for organisers or artist dressing, the other with power and plumbing for catering — round out the practical infrastructure. Cool pyro sparks are permitted inside the venue, though full fireworks are not.Corporate Events and Brand Activations at The Pelligon
Conferences and AGMs suit the scale and production infrastructure — 600 theatre-style with professional AV support handles serious corporate gatherings. Product launches and brand activations benefit most from The Pelligon’s distinctive feature: the ability to modify the glass panels with vinyl wrapping, flood the dome with brand colours, and use the Main Hall’s visual drama to create genuinely immersive environments that feel designed for the brand rather than decorated around it. Awards ceremonies gain the dramatic setting that the glass dome provides — there’s a reason the space draws film premieres and fashion shows alongside the corporate calendar. Exhibitions use the 682 square metres of open floor without obstruction. The venue is licensed for civil ceremonies, and the combination of dome, marble, and waterside terrace makes it a distinctive wedding venue for celebrations at scale. The Pelligon’s Canary Wharf Location
Positioned between 40 and 50 Bank Street, above Jubilee Place Shopping Mall, The Pelligon sits adjacent to Canary Wharf station — connected to the Jubilee line, DLR, and Elizabeth Line. London City Airport is ten minutes away. The River Bus serves the area, and car parking is available nearby. For corporate events drawing from the financial district, the proximity to Canary Wharf’s offices means minimal travel disruption. For celebrations, the waterfront setting and Docklands skyline provide a visual backdrop that central London venues — often surrounded by other buildings — struggle to match. The Pelligon operates on an approved supplier list for catering, with external caterers rather than a fixed in-house operation. This gives flexibility across cuisines and styles, with caterers who know the venue’s kitchen access, loading logistics, and spatial requirements.Main Hall Capacity & Layouts
