Full Venue Hire at The Courtyard Theatre

The Courtyard Theatre occupies a Grade II listed former public library on Pitfield Street in Hoxton — a working theatre and live music venue with professional d&b sound systems, a sound engineer included with event hire, and spaces that provide genuine performance infrastructure rather than a room with temporary staging. Full venue hire combines a 150-seat main theatre, an 80-seat studio theatre doubling as a 216-standing music venue, The White Room gallery and rehearsal space, and the Iambic Bar. For event planners seeking immersive, theatrical, or performance-led formats, the Courtyard provides technical capability built into the building. The professional sound system, included engineer, and 4K filming and recording production services mean creative events don’t need to start from scratch with hired equipment — the infrastructure is resident.

The Studio at The Courtyard Theatre

The Studio is the venue’s most versatile event space — 80 seated in theatre configuration or 216 standing for music events and receptions, measuring 6.45m x 17m with soundproofing, a raised stage, and modular flexibility. The d&b sound system with included sound engineer makes this a genuine performance space for live music, product launches, and immersive brand experiences. The Studio sits adjacent to the Iambic Bar, meaning events flow naturally between performance and socialising.

The Main Theatre

A 150-seat main house with modular raked seating — the larger of the two performance spaces, suited to theatre shows, screenings, panel talks, solo musicians, and presentations. The raked seating and proper theatrical sightlines distinguish this from flat-floor conference spaces, making it appropriate for events where audience attention to a stage matters.

The White Room

A mirrored space with a Harlequin Studio dance floor, high ceilings, and large windows providing natural light. Originally a rehearsal and gallery space, The White Room works for events wanting a clean, bright aesthetic — product launches, exhibitions, fashion shows, and creative workshops benefit from the mirrors, light, and open floor plan.

The Iambic Bar

An intimate bar with a refined drinks list, the Iambic operates as both a standalone social space and a natural extension of events in the Studio and Main Theatre. Private parties, networking events, and drinks receptions use the bar independently, while larger hires incorporate it as a pre-show or interval space.

Practical Details

The venue does not provide in-house catering but can help arrange external catering for events — check specific requirements when enquiring, as policies vary by event type. PA equipment and a sound engineer are included with performance hire. 4K filming and recording production services are available for events wanting broadcast-quality capture. The Courtyard sits at Bowling Green Walk off Pitfield Street, two minutes from Hoxton Square in the heart of Shoreditch’s creative district. Old Street tube is a five-minute walk, Shoreditch High Street and Hoxton Overground stations are seven minutes, and Liverpool Street is fifteen minutes on foot. The historic significance of the location — near the sites of England’s first purpose-built playhouses, The Theatre (1576) and The Curtain (1577) — adds context for performance-led events.
