About Gallery 11 at Saatchi Gallery
The second floor of Saatchi Gallery reveals architecture that the lower floors keep hidden. Gallery 11 sits beneath the building’s original roof structure, where exposed trusses and a rawer, more industrial character replace the seamless white-box finish of the ground and first floors. The Douglas wooden floors and white walls remain — this is still recognisably Saatchi — but the visible structural framework gives the space a textural quality that makes it feel different from every other gallery in the building.
That difference is worth something to event planners. Most clients hire Saatchi for the minimalist gallery aesthetic, and rightly so. But Gallery 11 offers a variant — clean contemporary space with architectural character from the warehouse heritage of the Duke of York’s HQ showing through. For events that want the Saatchi name and Chelsea address without the pure white-cube neutrality, this gallery provides a distinct register.
Gallery 11 at Saatchi Gallery — The Space
The gallery holds 220 standing for receptions or 180 seated at long tables, with 150 at rounds and 150 in theatre configuration. High ceilings accommodate the exposed trusses while maintaining the sense of volume that Saatchi’s galleries are known for. Dimmable barrisol lighting gives the same controlled illumination as the lower floors, and three-phase power with high-speed wifi supports full production builds. The second-floor position creates a journey through the gallery that adds to the occasion. Guests ascend from the ground-floor entrance through the building — passing through exhibitions, up the central refurbished staircase that was originally designed with separate boys’ and girls’ routes — before arriving at the second-floor galleries. For events where discovery and exclusivity matter, that progression through the building becomes part of the experience rather than a logistical inconvenience.Event Formats for Saatchi’s Second-Floor Gallery
Experiential and immersive events find a natural home here. The exposed trusses give production teams something to work with visually — lighting designs can play off the structural elements, and the industrial aesthetic provides a backdrop that reads as deliberately curated rather than unfinished. Pop-up exhibitions, brand activations, and art fairs benefit from the space’s character lending edge to the presentation. Corporate receptions and private dining work well against the warmer, more textured atmosphere. Product launches gain a different flavour from the second floor than they would in the polished ground-floor galleries — there is an intimacy to the rawer architectural language that suits exclusive reveals and smaller-scale brand storytelling. Photography and filming find the exposed structure gives visual depth that flat white walls cannot.Combining Gallery 11 with Saatchi’s Upper Galleries
Gallery 11 sits alongside Galleries 12, 13, and 14 on the second floor, all connected through floor-to-ceiling openings. Full second-floor hire creates a substantial footprint across four galleries, each with the same exposed-truss character but varying in dimension. Gallery 12 shares the same length but has the building’s lowest ceiling height at 3.2 metres, while Gallery 14 has a taller 4-metre ceiling — so combined hire offers genuine variety of atmosphere within a single floor. The building is fully accessible, with passenger lifts connecting all floors. Goods lift access handles production load-in and equipment logistics. For the largest events, whole-venue hire spans all 13 galleries across three floors for up to 1,500 guests.Gallery 11 Capacity & Layouts
