Lindley Hall offers one of central London’s largest uninterrupted floor spaces beneath a 14.75-metre glass-vaulted ceiling — an 875 sqm Grade II listed blank canvas in Westminster that has been hosting events since it first opened in 1904. The hall operates as a dry hire venue with an approved supplier list, and the scale is considerable: 650 standing, 450 seated cabaret with reception space, 400 theatre, or 320 cabaret with a full reception area. The ceiling alone would justify shortlisting this venue. The operational detail makes it genuinely practical.

The Hall and Its Ceiling

The Edwardian glass vault floods the space with natural light during the day — the quality of illumination is something artificial lighting can’t replicate, and it transforms daytime events, exhibitions, and photography. For evening events, full blackout capability means the hall can be lit entirely to your specification, with an in-house intelligent lighting system, pin spots, and uplighters included in the hire. The floor space is completely pillar-free, giving production teams, exhibition designers, and event planners full flexibility over layout and flow.

What’s Included in the Hire at Lindley Hall

The base hire includes more than the hall itself. Exclusive use covers the Main Hall, North Annexe (holding around 100 standing), a Mezzanine area for a further 40 guests, an Organiser’s Office, kitchen, and café space. Furniture provision is extensive: 491 banqueting chairs, 160 trestle tables, 44 round tables (5ft 6in), 8 poseur tables, 503 exam desks, café furniture, pipe and drape units, wooden screens, curtain coverage, coat rails, and a lectern. Two cloakroom attendants, a security officer, operations staff, pre and post-event cleaning, and a dedicated cleaner during tenancy are all part of the package.

Technical Infrastructure

In-house AV includes the intelligent lighting system, PA for announcements and background music, and 1GB dedicated WiFi. A modular stage with steps, rails, and ramp is available. The North Annexe has its own projector and AV setup. A 3-tonne goods lift handles production load-in. For larger production requirements, the venue works with an approved list of AV and production suppliers who know the building’s capabilities and constraints.

Catering and Supplier Arrangements

Lindley Hall is a dry hire venue — catering, AV beyond the in-house basics, and additional production come through the approved supplier list. This gives planners flexibility to work with caterers who match their event’s requirements (including halal, kosher, and specialist dietary providers), while the approved list ensures suppliers understand the building. The Lawrence Hall

For events requiring even greater capacity, the adjacent Lawrence Hall — a striking 1920s Art Deco space — accommodates up to 1,500 standing, 900 for dinner, 750 dinner dance, or 1,000 conference. It’s only available during Westminster School holidays on a minimum three-day hire basis, but for large-scale events during those windows, the combination of both halls is exceptional.
