About Kent House Knightsbridge

Kent House Knightsbridge is a Victorian townhouse with an unusual advantage over its Knightsbridge neighbours: it isn’t listed. While the surrounding period properties operate under conservation restrictions that limit what events can do with branding, lighting, and transformation, Kent House offers genuine period grandeur — marble floors, sweeping staircase, skylight atrium, floor-to-ceiling windows, ornate cornicing — combined with the blank canvas freedom to fully customise the space for any event. Full venue hire accommodates 300 standing across five key spaces on two floors, with seated dinners for up to 200 and theatre configuration for 220. The building dates from the 1790s, originally built for Prince Edward, Duke of Kent — Queen Victoria’s father — who enlarged it. The 1870s saw it rebuilt as a salon, and through the 1930s it served as a meeting place for leading musicians, dancers, and actors. Today it’s the largest surviving townhouse of its kind, managed by Evolve Events and available exclusively — when you hire Kent House, you get the entire building.

The Spaces at Kent House Knightsbridge

The Sanctuary is the principal room — a long, neutral space on the upper floor that takes 300 standing, 200 for a dinner dance, or 220 theatre-style. The room can also be divided into two for flexibility. High ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with natural light during the day, while evening events benefit from mood lighting and the room’s elegant proportions. The Marble Hall at ground level serves as the natural arrival and registration space, its black and white marble floor and period architecture creating an immediate impression. The Library and Rutland Room provide breakout areas, brand activation spaces, or additional dining capacity. Two terraces — one at each level — extend the venue outdoors for warm-weather receptions. Kent House is licensed for civil wedding ceremonies, with the Rutland Room accommodating 96 and the Library 72.

Events at Kent House Knightsbridge

The exclusive hire model means every event has the full townhouse. Guests move between rooms with genuinely different characters — the grandeur of the Sanctuary, the period detail of the Marble Hall, the intimate scale of the Library — creating a flow that single-room venues can’t match. The neutral wall colours throughout make corporate branding straightforward; clients regularly project logos and imagery directly onto walls and even the building’s exterior. Press days and product launches work particularly well because the townhouse format communicates private access rather than commercial venue hire — a distinction that matters for brands attuned to how settings shape perception. The venue has won Best Christmas Party Venue, and its themed packages (1920s events are a speciality) reflect a team that understands production as well as logistics.

Catering and Event Management

Evolve Events manages the venue and provides in-house event management, working with a network of London’s leading caterers across a range of cuisines and budgets — including specialist kosher and Asian catering. For weddings, Acclaim Food provides catering with no corkage or service fees on own beverages. External caterers can also be arranged. Complimentary food and wine tastings are available for larger bookings. Full AV and WiFi are available throughout, and the events team coordinates everything from styling and entertainment to production support. The all-inclusive party packages start from a per-person rate and include venue, dining, drinks, DJ, entertainment, and styling — designed to simplify planning for corporate celebrations.

Knightsbridge Location

Kent House sits on a quiet, secure road directly opposite Hyde Park — five minutes on foot from Knightsbridge Station. The surrounding neighbourhood includes Harrods, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Royal Albert Hall, placing events within London’s most prestigious residential district. The Knightsbridge address communicates something specific before any guest crosses the threshold, and the secluded street setting adds a sense of exclusivity that busier commercial locations can’t provide. Note: food restrictions apply at the venue (no shellfish, no pork, no nuts). Events cannot be hosted on Friday evenings, and alcohol licence runs until 00:30 with extensions available.
