About Gunnersbury Park

Gunnersbury Park delivers the scale and grandeur of a country house estate without leaving London. The Grade II* listed mansion — a former Rothschild residence, restored to the tune of £21 million in 2018 — sits across 72 hectares of landscaped parkland with ornamental water features, formal lawns, and mature woodland. Acton Town station is nearby, and for events of any significant size, the contrast between setting and accessibility is the core proposition. Private hire centres on three interconnected spaces inside the mansion — the Drawing Room, Long Gallery, and Dining Room, known collectively as the Rothschild Rooms — plus the Orangery and a classical Temple in the grounds.

The Rothschild Rooms

The Drawing Room, Long Gallery, and Dining Room interconnect to create a single suite of ornate period rooms with original Rothschild-era fixtures, gilded detailing, and tall sash windows overlooking the South Lawns. Used together, they hold 110 for dinner and dancing, 190 for a seated ceremony, or 200 standing. The interconnecting layout gives events natural flow — ceremony in one room, drinks in the next, dinner in the third — without ever leaving the same wing of the house. Individually, the rooms flex for smaller events. The Dining Room alone takes 80 for dinner or 90 standing. The Long Gallery suits more intimate formats — 30 seated or 50 standing — with its narrow proportions and period character lending themselves to drinks receptions, private dinners, or breakout sessions during larger conferences.

The Orangery

The Orangery is an almost entirely glass structure at the foot of the South Lawns, and it floods with natural light throughout the day. It holds 80 for ceremonies, dinners, or receptions, and the combination of glasshouse architecture and garden views creates a setting that photographs exceptionally well. For civil ceremonies, the Orangery offers an alternative to the mansion’s grander rooms — lighter, more contemporary in feel, and directly connected to the lawns for post-ceremony drinks.

The Temple

The Temple is an 18th-century classical structure designed by William Chambers, originally commissioned by Princess Amelia. It accommodates 50 for ceremonies and receptions during summer months, and its position in the wider parkland gives it a sense of occasion that works for intimate weddings and celebration drinks. Summer-only availability means it’s best suited to events from May through September.

Catering and practicalities

Gunnersbury operates from an approved caterer list rather than in-house catering. Current approved caterers include Seasoned, whose menus draw on Michelin-level technique; King Solomon’s, specialising in Caribbean and African cuisine; and Mazaa, offering South Asian catering. The range means events can match the venue’s grandeur with food that isn’t restricted to standard banqueting menus. The venue is licensed for weddings and civil ceremonies. Events must conclude by midnight. TV and film location hire is available separately, and the on-site museum adds a cultural element for guests arriving early or events that want to incorporate a curated experience. Security is included in the hire fee. The 72 hectares of parkland also accommodate large-scale outdoor events and festivals for up to 30,000 attendees — a completely different proposition to the mansion hire, but indicative of the estate’s scale.
