Lower Ground Floor at Clays

Twelve shooting pegs, real decommissioned shotguns, four-metre 4K screens — and a cocktail bar that would hold its own without any of that. Clays’ Lower Ground Floor turns competitive socialising into something genuinely slick, pitched halfway between premium lounge and interactive entertainment venue without tipping into arcade territory.

How the Lower Ground Floor Works at Clays

Nine of the venue’s twelve shooting pegs sit on this level, each booth equipped with a real shotgun and an immersive 4K screen running four distinct game modes. Sessions run around 90 minutes per group, with each peg accommodating up to 20 players. The technology is sophisticated — real-time scoring, realistic clay trajectories — but the learning curve is gentle enough that first-timers compete comfortably alongside experienced shots. The activity is the centrepiece, but it doesn’t monopolise the space. Between rounds, guests drift naturally to the main bar or settle into the dedicated dining area, ordering from an extensive menu of small plates and sharing platters designed for grazing rather than formal courses.

Private Hire and Events on Clays’ Lower Ground Floor

Semi-exclusive hire accommodates up to 200 standing with five shooting pegs included, while exclusive hire of the Lower Ground Floor takes capacity to 300 standing with all nine pegs operational. The space works particularly well for corporate team building — the shooting element provides a built-in icebreaker that sidesteps the forced-fun problem most team activities create. Guests compete, laugh, commiserate, and bond around something genuinely engaging rather than something their company has made them do. Christmas parties and end-of-year celebrations benefit from the same dynamic. The activity solves the entertainment question, the cocktail programme handles the drinks, and the small-plates menu means nobody’s locked into a rigid dining schedule. Client entertaining lands well here too — the premium setting and built-in talking points create memorable evenings without the pressure of a formal dinner where conversation has to carry the entire event.

Clays’ Lower Ground Floor — Design and Atmosphere

The interior design does serious work. Dark greens and earthy pink tones set the palette, with a signature tree built around the main bar creating a focal point that photographs exceptionally well. The lighting is deliberately low and warm, closer to a high-end cocktail lounge than a gaming venue. Wi-Fi, a projector, and a PA system support corporate presentations and welcome speeches. Networking events benefit from the layout — shooting bays create natural conversation clusters, with the bar and dining areas offering quieter breakout zones. Birthday celebrations, milestone parties, and large group bookings all find a format that keeps energy high across the full guest list rather than relying on a DJ or playlist to fill the room. The alcohol licence runs until 2am, giving evening events genuine runway. The Moorgate location places Clays within easy reach of Bank, Liverpool Street, and the surrounding City cluster — corporate guests arrive quickly, and the venue sits in the kind of postcode that doesn’t require a travel argument on the invite.
