Caia’s ground floor operates as a sophisticated wine bar and open-fire restaurant on Golborne Road; downstairs, the Green Room shifts into a velvet-lined, vinyl-spinning basement with 1970s house party energy. The full venue takes up to 60 seated or 85 standing, licensed until 1am, with the split-level layout creating a natural flow between dining, drinking, and late-evening atmosphere — an event arc built into the architecture rather than imposed by programming. Founded by Rishabh Vir (The Fat Duck, Kiln) and Tim Lang (Streetfeast), Caia occupies a corner of Notting Hill’s Golborne Road where the neighbourhood’s food and music culture has genuine depth. The venue is built around two obsessions — serious wine and serious vinyl — and the event hire proposition reflects both.

The Bar and Restaurant

The ground floor is wine-led and fire-driven. A custom-built open fire grill sits at the heart of the kitchen, producing seasonal sharing plates designed to work with the wine list rather than independently of it. Executive chef John Javier, who joined from The Tent, brings Filipino and Australian influences to a European base — dishes like beef tartare with oysters and cacio e pepe cheung fun signal the direction. The cooking is inventive and social: built for plates that travel around the table. The wine programme is curated from old world producers and natural winemakers, with a cocktail offering focused on aperitivos, spritzes, and well-made classics. Floor-to-ceiling wine bottle displays and chic bar stools set a tone that’s elegant without being formal. A semi-private Wine Room within the main floor offers an intimate space for wine tastings and smaller private dining groups — a useful option for events within events.

The Green Room

The basement is where Caia becomes something different entirely. Velvet seating, chandeliers, a disco ball, and a massive vintage record stand with three turntables set the aesthetic — 1970s house party hosted by someone with exceptional taste in music. The custom-built hi-fi sound system is the centrepiece: DJs curate sets of rare jazz, funk, tropical, and disco vinyl on weekends, and the same system runs during private hire. The Green Room takes up to 30 seated or 40 standing and operates as a genuinely distinct hire space from the restaurant above. For events that use both floors, the transition from dinner upstairs to music in the basement happens naturally — guests drift downward as the evening progresses and the energy shifts. No forced transitions, no awkward room changes.

How Hire Works at Caia

Full venue hire combines both floors for events up to 85 standing or 60 seated. In-house catering from the open fire grill means food quality is consistent and integrated — the kitchen controls everything from canapé receptions to seated sharing menus. The licence runs until 1am, with Temporary Event Notices available for extensions. The Green Room is also available as a standalone hire for drinks-led events, birthday celebrations, and late-evening gatherings that don’t need the full restaurant operation.
