About Arch 3 & 4 at Behind The Shed

Two interconnected Victorian railway arches in Shoreditch, 12,000 square feet of blank canvas with poured concrete floors, exposed brick walls, and a 30-metre private road outside that you can drive a car through — literally. Arch 3’s glass doors extend fully onto the road and are wide enough for vehicle access, which is why Aston Martin launched the Next Generation Vantage here. Combined standing capacity runs to 350-400, with 360 seated for dining, and the dry-hire model means every element of production is yours to specify.

Behind The Shed’s Two Arches

Arch 3 and Arch 4 each hold up to 200 standing independently, connected by two smaller jack arches that allow guest flow between spaces while maintaining distinct atmospheres in each. Arch 3 is the more dramatic of the two — large glass windows and doors at one end flood the space with natural light and open directly onto the private road. That natural light is unusual for railway arch venues, which typically depend entirely on artificial lighting, and it extends the venue’s range into daytime photography, film shoots, and events where atmosphere doesn’t require darkness. Arch 4 is the larger space at 185 square metres, offering more floor area for seated configurations, exhibition layouts, or production builds. Together, the two arches create the flexibility that single-space venues lack: drinks reception in one arch, dinner in the other. Presentation space separated from networking areas. Brand activation flowing between two connected but tonally distinct rooms.

Production Infrastructure at Behind The Shed

The specification reads like a production facility rather than an event venue. Underfloor heating throughout both arches. Multiple three-phase power feeds. Full drainage with hot and cold water. Professional studio-grade rigging points with pro rigging truss rated at 200 kilograms per point and a full AV rig. J-Rail hanging system for art installations and exhibition displays. The infrastructure handles serious production — fashion shows, immersive experiences, large-scale brand activations — without requiring temporary power or structural workarounds. The 30-metre private road provides loading and vehicle access that transforms logistics for production-heavy events. Equipment trucks pull up directly outside. Set pieces and vehicles drive into Arch 3 through the extending glass doors. For car launches, this is the feature that separates Behind The Shed from other blank canvas spaces where “vehicle access” means a loading bay around the corner.

Dry Hire and Creative Control at Behind The Shed

Arches 3 and 4 operate as dry hire only, with an alcohol licence until midnight and extensions available. Own catering is permitted, giving complete control over food and beverage. The twelve-hour minimum booking reflects the venue’s orientation toward production events that need setup, event, and de-rig time within a single hire period. Setup days are available at half rate for builds that require additional time. The adjacent Bike Shed Motorcycle Club in Arches 1 and 2 — bar, restaurant, retail, barbershop, tattoo studio — adds an unexpected neighbouring amenity. The Lounge within Arches 1-2 holds up to 50 on a minimum spend basis, providing an additional space for pre-event drinks or smaller breakout gatherings.

Shoreditch Location and Access

Behind The Shed sits in Shoreditch’s creative quarter with the authentic edge of its neighbour — the motorcycle club next door is a working business, not a themed backdrop. The postcode carries cultural weight for product launches, fashion events, and creative industry gatherings where location signals brand identity. The full yard and private road outside both arches provide outdoor space for arrivals, breaks, and overflow. Farringdon station — connecting the Elizabeth Line, Thameslink, and Underground — is the nearest major rail hub, with Old Street and Shoreditch High Street also within reach. For events drawing guests from across London and beyond, the transport connections support the venue’s capacity without relying on a single line.
