Unless you have infinite funds for your big day, we believe that one way or another, wedding couples should be on a budget wedding. We don’t necessarily mean that you need to skimp on everything and use confetti that you picked up at your friend’s wedding, or wear your grandmas wedding dress (I bet it’s lovely though! Think about it at least.)

Instead we mean that you should budget to save money in the areas that you don’t care about and spend more on the things you that do matter to you!
For example, if you don’t care whether your wedding falls on a hot day, or feel that you can be a little bit creative when it comes to finishing touches then read on to find out how to save literally thousands of pounds.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_single_image image=”3930″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Photography by Mark Wallis @ Asylum[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]
To save money in the least important areas
Each wedding is different and every wedding couple that we speak to has a different idea of a perfect day. Before you try and save money in every possible way and read every budget wedding venues article you can find, think about what is most important to you and then perhaps ignore our advice when it comes to saving money on those important things!
If you have dreamt of a sunny wedding your entire life then spend extra money to have a summer wedding, or if you want the most amazing photographs to show your grandchildren then find a good photographer and spend money! Don’t worry, there are plenty of other areas where you can save money, as you will see with these budget wedding tips.
Everyone loves a summer wedding, which leaves venues in London fighting tooth and nail to win the hearts and wallets of wedding couples.
And it’s not just winter weddings that can save you big bucks. Many city of London wedding venues, along with others who host a lot of corporate events will be particularly eager to book weddings during half terms and holidays when the corporate event market takes a slight break.
Armed with that knowledge, all it boils down to is asking this question: “are there any days or weekends where you can offer us a better deal?” Happy haggling!
They cost more than {things}
We recently asked a fantastic wedding magician what was the difference between him and a normal magician. At the risk of breaking the golden rule and giving away a magicians secret, he told us “a wedding magician is more expensive.”
It is important to understand that this is only a half-truth, in the sense that the services offered by most wedding specialists do have a huge amount value. The magician we met, was being modest, as he worked particularly long hours and had hand-crafted specialist tricks for wedding couples.
That being said, this is where wedding couples can save huge amounts. If you need a wedding cake then get a cake from your local bakery rather than a specialist wedding cake baker. Consider a good jazz band rather than a specialist wedding band, and so on.
London is home to some of the world’s greatest suppliers so only spend your money on the most important ones to you![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]
It’s the simple things
Take a look at all of the finishing touches that you might spend money on and think about whether there is a cheap alternative that isn’t too time consuming. As you get close to the big day the thought of Blue Peter style DIY can often become a cause for anxiety.
Aside from designing your own invites, which can require a certain knack, or creating table decorations, which can turn into a bit of a nightmare when the big day comes closer here is one of our favourite budget wedding ideas ever:
Instead of hiring a photobooth, buy 2 or 3 Polaroid cameras and raid your fancy dress cupboard! Ask the venue to place a chair for people to pose with and a table next to that with the cameras, a guest book, a Pritstick and a note that says “please leave a picture and a message in the book!”
You will be left with an amazing reminder of your big day and your guests, as well as fantastic embarrassing photos to show friends and family wen they come to visit!
